Instrument Rating (IR)
Based on individual student’s requirement, the Instrument Rating (IR) course can be conducted in a single-engine Cessna 172 or a multi-engine Duchess. This will lead to award of the relevant category of Instrument Rating qualification.

This course includes 40 hours of Instrument Flight training, comprising 8 hours of Aircraft Endorsement training, 10 hours of Simulator training, and 23 hours of Instrument Flight. Flight test takes approximately 3 hours.

The time it takes to obtain a licence mainly depends on whether you are doing full-time training, aircraft availability and weather. SAC will closely monitor the performance of the student pilot - and the flight training provider – to ensure that his/her flight training programme concludes successfully.

This course usually takes about 6 to 8 weeks (conservative estimates).

A pass in Instrument Rating (IREX) theory examination is required in order to qualify for a Flight Test.

This flight training programme is conducted in accordance to prevailing requirements by Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) of Australia.
